Incorporating A Charity Or Cause Into What You Sell

We already blogged about ways to choose a charity or cause on your team. Then we discussed ways to raise money with your team. But, what do you do if you want to incorporate giving back all year long? Here are a few ideas for that!

A Percentage Or Special Dollar Amount For Something Sold – Giving Back To Charity

This one is easy if you sell products. For this you are committing to donating part of your markup to charity each month. This could be a percentage of sales or a special dollar amount. Think of it like this, “for each pastrami sandwich sold, we will donate $1 to cancer research” OR “for each bike helmet sold, we will donate $5 to St. Jude’s Research hospital.” This encourages the sale of your product, communicates the importance of giving back and also supports the charity of your choice. You could also have a special t-shirt printed up with a fun slogan. It may only cost you $3 per shirt, and you can sell them for $10 to clients, netting all $7 for the charity, or be extra generous and donate all $10!

A Special Service Or Product – Giving Back To Charity

For companies that don’t retail products, they may need to go in this direction. You could either donate a dollar amount for a certain service or donate the whole amount someone pays for an extra service. For an accounting firm (ahem), we may charge a small fee for a retirement consultation and donate the whole thing. At a hair salon or spa, it may be for a hand massage or a conditioning treatment.

A Raffle Each Month – Giving Back To Charity

For this you raffle off a good or service at your place of business each month. You could “advertise” it on Facebook or have it out at your front desk if you have foot traffic. It can be something your business buys, you all chip in for or something that a local or neighboring business is willing to contribute to.
