Keeping A Tidy And Uplifting Desk And Office

A clean, organized and tidy desk makes all the difference in my mood when I am trying to get things done! In fact, I would go so far to say that it is uplifting. The space you’re working in really does influence how you feel about the work you are doing. And I will be honest, I want my time at work to be as pleasant and positive as possible!

This year I have put a special effort toward creating a more organized work space. In my particular case, my office is very small. My desk is even smaller and my storage is even less. Whatever you are picturing, picture it smaller. Despite this, I was up for the challenge. My office tends to be a catch-all for upcoming and past promotions, displays, upcoming product etc. I was craving more peace in every area of my life, and that included my tiny piece of work space.

Easy Ways To Tidy Up Your Work Space:

  • Maximize wall space: There were several things I could display on my wall that I use on a regular basis. This also includes certain resources I pull out for employees that were handier to have displayed on my wall for reference. Bulletin boards or white boards work well for this.
  • Trash it: What I really mean is do not keep too many things for “just in case” – most of us don’t really use these things again. If it something you can replace fairly easily, that you never use, get rid of it.
  • Put your foot down: Some things simply don’t belong in my office. Collaborate with your team and with your boss, if necessary, to find a new home for things that do not belong
  • My last tip is to file things right away. You can see my last blog post for details on how I keep my files tidy!
