November Budgeting – Don’t Forget These!

There are certain seasonal costs that can come up in any given month. When I set up my monthly budget I try to figure out what’s most important to include. I try not to forget about anything seasonal or special that will break my budget. Below are some recommendations to consider and include in your November budget!

Things That May Need To Be In Your November Budget

  • Thanksgiving Dinner: This is a big one if you host! Hosting costs me a ton of money. Between a traditional turkey, the fixings, desserts and drinks it can really add up! Hosting is amazing and I love having all of my family (and friends!) around and you can’t put a price on that feeling. But hosting can cost you, so make sure to include it in your grocery budget!
  • Black Friday or Festive Traditions: My family doesn’t go out on “Black Friday” but if you or your friends do, don’t forget to set some money aside for those deals! Maybe you have another festive tradition that needs to be budgeted for.
  • Holiday Decor: I like to add at least one thing each year to my collection. It may be something small, but it is something I look forward to!
  • Holiday Giving: We always take up a collection at work for a family in need. Maybe this is adopting a child for the holidays or contributing to something at your church or school.
  • Winter Clothes and Boots: Here is my only suggestion unrelated to the holidays! November is the month in Michigan where I start to feel the winter chill. As an adult I don’t change too much of my wardrobe, but I often need to replace shoes I wore out the year before. Boots can be pricey!

November Budgeting In Closing

We all know December comes after November, and this is a pricey time of year. In addition to the holidays, our heat needs to be turned on and you need a car that is winter-ready. Having a good handle on my November budget helps me start out the next year on the right foot!
