Raising Money For A Cause At Your Small Business

In our last blog post we discussed choosing a charity or cause to donate to at work. In this post we are going to cover three ways to actually raise money for the cause you do choose. Raising money can be fun for your team and worthwhile for everyone involved. People really do love to help!

Have A Jean’s Day or Pay To Break Dress Code Day – Raising Money

We understand the need for a dress code and professional attire in many workplaces. But doesn’t everyone appreciate the chance to let their hair down? Well, you can charge for that! Have a month or a week or a day where your team members can pay $5/day to either wear jeans or break your normal dress code in some way. Donate that money to the charity of your choice.

Hold A Silent Auction – Raising Money

This does not have to be as complicated as it sounds to you. You can donate an item of goods or services from your business, and if needed, ask some neighboring businesses to be involved. Set the items up at your place of business with a simple sheet for bidding. You could also post these on Facebook and have the instructions written in the post and let the comments act as the bids. If you want to make a small event you can email out your customers or clients what you are doing, when to stop by and host a small get together. I would recommend calling some of them too and giving a personal invitation. This can be as simple or as grand as you want it to be.

Run A 5K As A Team – Raising Money

Run or walk a 5k and ask for pledges to sponsor your team. This is a wonderful team-building activity and a way to get friends, family and customers involved. There are many great websites for facilitating online donations or ask for pledges at your small business if that makes sense for your type of industry.
