Growing up we always had cable. However, when I got out on my own I realized how much I could save by skipping cable, so for many years I didn’t have it. When I finally ordered it again a few years ago, I was shocked by the price. But, I absolutely loved it and I loved my DVR and it made me so happy I couldn’t imagine skipping it again. Lately, I have reconsidered this. There are so many options out there. Is it time for me to skip back out on traditional cable?

Some Cable Alternatives To Check In To – Skip Traditional Cable

Amazon Prime Video: Does it feel like Amazon is taking over the world? It does to me! But you can’t help the fact that Amazon Prime is convenient, has other perks and now boasts a large selection of movies, television shows and even some original series.

Netflix or Hulu: Confession time…I actually already have Netflix too! I think I am making up for my incredibly frugal 20’s by splurging now. Once my husband and I get hooked on a Netflix series, there is no stopping us! I think that I may be able to give up cable before giving up Netflix, so this is probably my first pick for replacing traditional cable. Plus, no commericals on Netflix!

Online Network Channels: Many major networks such as ABC and NBC will air recent episodes of their top shows on their websites for a certain amount of time. You definitely have to plan your watching better and it may not be as convenience as some of our other options, but FREE is the perfect price to fit into anyone’s budget.

HBO NOW: Almost all of the major premium channels have their own service to stream right to your television. If you are looking to skip traditional cable, then this might be for you! Some of them can be added on to a Netflix account for an additional fee. Just another thing you can consider to slash your entertainment or utility budget!

Last, But Not Least – Skip Traditional Cable

I know it feels old school, but the library is another place to get your entertainment totally free. They have computers to use, DVD’s to rent and books to read. What’s not to love?
