Spring Cleaning Tips For Your Office
Most of us don’t count cleaning as one of our favorite activities. However, spring cleaning is special. I love a fresh start and a good clean slate. If your office has windows in it, then you can see the beautiful sunshine this time of year. The sun is the perfect motivation for sprucing things up. If you can’t be out enjoying it, you can at least enjoy your office space more!
We aren’t talking about run of the mill vacuuming or sanitizing dishes. Springtime is go big or go home when it comes to tidying up!
Here are some tips for spring cleaning your office space:
- Pitch It: No, I don’t mean important documents or things that you may need again. I mean clutter that can be donated or broken equipment. This also includes leftover coupons, supplies or signs from old promotions or materials that no longer bring you any value.
- Organize Communal Areas: The dreaded break room, the bathroom closet, the storage room…all of these areas give me heart palpitations! Organizing the areas we all have to deal with and keeping them clean and clutter free gives us all more space to move about!
- Glass: This one depends just how many mirrors or windows you have. However, I think it is one of the easiest things to overlook. When it is done, it will make one of the greatest differences!
- Clean Shared Equipment: This would be a printer that everyone uses. It also includes a fax machine, a scanner, or shared phones. Everyone should be cleaning their own keyboards, phones etc…but spring is a great time to designate cleaning shared equipment.

Take this opportunity. Everyone can contribute or you can designate a person or a team to lead the way. We like to put up a spring cleaning checklist for everyone to “sign up” for something they can do. It’s amazing how everyone feels better about their working space when you are done!
