Summer Landscaping To Fit Your Budget

Your summer landscaping plans can really break the bank if you aren’t careful! This is an important item to put in your budget for the spring and summer. Especially if this is something that is important to you or if you wish to work on it. Here are some things to keep in mind and consider when it comes to summer landscaping projects…

Summer Landscaping Planning

No one ever regretted planning something well! Winter in Michigan is a great time to consider what you plan to do with your yard, patio and gardens in the spring and summer. You may need to save up or allot money in your budget for your projects. Winter is also a great time to do research on plants and flowers that will work well in certain areas. Investment

That yard can really cost you! Think about the investment you are putting in and what the right budget is for you. For this reason, I like to focus on simple designs and perennials. Perennials come back year after year, so I feel better about updating and adding to my yard with them. I have friends that love annuals and the option to change out the color, placement and style each year. This is something to consider before you start buying!

Stages

Most of us would love to have the perfect summer landscaping done in one swoop…I know I would! It is hard to look around my neighborhood and see other people’s yards “done” when I feel like I have so far to go. I have to remind myself that I don’t need to keep up with the Joneses! It is okay to spread my projects and improvements out over a few years as long as I maintain things well. That way I have peace of mind with the investment of my time and my money!

Help

Know when you need help! I have no problem planting some perennials or adding gravel to a walkway. However, if I want a new patio, I am going to need some help. I have had a a few bad experiences with D-I-Y’ing that ended up costing me more in the long run. If the project is bigger than you can handle and accomplish correctly, it may be better to hire someone!
