Crushing Your Small Business Resolutions – Part 2
I am so excited it is new year’s eve! I don’t care so much about the party most people have (I will be celebrating quietly at home), but I love the idea of CRUSHING my goals in the new year. Last post we talked about my strategy and process for setting resolutions. So in this post, we will discuss the steps to “killing it” or crushing your small business goals! Ready to knock it out of the park?
Steps To Crushing Your Small Business Goals And Resolutions
- Company Wide Awareness (SYNERGY): Make sure EVERYONE knows what’s going on. This includes your top level executives and manager and the part-time assistant or receptionist who only works a day each week. Communication is so important to me because it will breakdown even the BEST service and the greatest goals. A few ways I get everyone on the same page is to hold a meeting or huddle, hand out physical information or memos and also email. Some people on my team learn or pay attention in different ways so I like to offer more than one way to get the goal out there.
- Tracking Your Goals: I like to make sure there is a solid way to track our goals. Whether it is a dollar amount, unit sold, or even keeping things cleaner…you have to have a way to track it! Next, make sure everyone knows how it will be tracked. Last, use the tracking system to communicate success along the way. You can put the system out there, but it doesn’t mean people will necessarily check it themselves.
- Create A Reward or Incentive: Finally, your crushing your goals and experiencing growth and success. Cheers! Sometimes the “reward” for this is simply being able to pay the bills or make ends meet. That being said, I still think it is important to give your team and incentive. This doesn’t have to cost a lot or be a monetary reward (defeating the achieved goals $). Keep in mind that extra time off, casual-Friday or a pizza party are all desirable as well. Do what works for you and fits your goals, company and industry the best!
