Whether you work full-time, you are a student or a stay-at-home mom – there will come a time where you consider getting a part-time job. This is not for everyone and certainly requires patience. Depending on the area and the school system, they usually require a commercial driver’s license, and sensory tests. This can be a great option for someone who wants to work shorter shifts earlier in the day and be off on weekends.
Tutor or Coach
Do you have academic or athletic skills that you could pass on or mentor someone younger with? You don’t have to be Shakespeare or Michael Phelps to teach younger kids much needed skills in a certain area. These positions are ultimately flexible and can earn up to $20/hour. You could tutor one night a week or 4 nights per week. Consider asking friends and coworkers if they know someone who may be interested in tutoring.
Animal Caretaker
This isn’t just limited to dog-walking, but can include feeding pets throughout the day or taking them into your home while their owners are on vacation or unavailable. People love their pets and there has never been a better time to advertise that you can provide this service.
Receptionist
Many places besides offices need receptionists. Check out a local salon or spa or security company. These types of businesses need someone available to answer the phones on odd hours and sometimes need someone for only 1-2 shifts per week when there are a high volume of calls. Churches, schools and real estate offices are also great places to check out and often have nice working environments.
Cleaning
Maybe an office or a friend you have needs someone to clean or organize for them. This should be something you have a natural talent for, but can pay very well for a mere afternoon’s work. Instead of this being all of the time, you could also take on projects – such as the one-time organization of closets or a basement. There are many people out there who lack the skills, time, or focus to clean consistently or organize and area that has become disheveled. Tap into your social networks, online and in person, and you may make some money quickly!
