A Budget For College Working & Spending – Financial Goals

This can be a tough subject as money is often tight and the pressure to keep up with friends is increased. However, paying your tuition yourself is possible. First of all, we need a budget. If it doesn’t seem like those late nights working in the coffee shop add up to much, you are thinking of it wrong. Many people spend everything they make at their part time jobs through college, but putting even a small amount toward your tuition can make a big impact in the amount of your potential loans and the interest you pay over the life of them.

Your circumstances are going to be quite different if you live at home, are on campus, have a job or if you are even responsible for your tuition. If you are responsible for ANY of your own expenses, it is important to have a budget each month and follow it. It is too easy to spend money if you are lacking a plan. Create a budget and stick to it.

All About The Cash Flow – Financial Goals

There is more than one way to make money while in college. In addition to a job, this also includes donating plasma, baby sitting, cleaning houses or offering freelance work (like blogging!) An intense plan to keep up with your college tuition is often going to include more than just a simple part time job. Stay humble and look into every opportunity!

As a nation we are working toward a college education being available to everyone. For now, it is completely up to you and your family. Do not be afraid…there are MANY options out there. I have a great friend who paid her own way through college with no loans and no help. It was very hard work and included her giving up many nights out, time with family, and fancy lattes. But, she did it. It was worth it and you can make it happen too!
