Free fun family activities! Hooray! Now, let’s face it…nothing in life is free, right? We will go through some ideas that are almost free. Activities will qualify if they use items you already have. Time, gas and a paper clips all cost something, but overall these ideas won’t break your bank or adversely affect your budget.
It can be hard in this day and age to plan family activities without it costing you a pretty penny. Some of the ideas below may seem old fashioned, but this kind of fun is timeless and goes along way in the memory department. It may seem simple, but some of the best ideas are!
Explore A New Park Or Beach – Free Fun Family Activities
You may think you have seen all your town has to offer, but likely you haven’t. Metro Parks, State Parks, school playgrounds, nature trails and more! Check you city’s website for sites not experienced before. If you don’t see anything fun, check a neighboring town. If you are going to a park you have been to before, just try a new routine. Maybe everyone in the family tries all of the equipment in the round. Be willing to put yourself out there too. Go down the slide or attempt the monkey bars. Don’t rely on your kids for the fun, BE the fun!
Scavenger Hunt – Free Fun Family Activities
You can make one or you can designate another family member to make one. You could even take turns. Make clues or puzzles to take you from one thing to the next. There are plenty of ways to do it.
Game Tournament – Free Fun Family Activities
Choose an age-appropriate game for your family. Practice playing and using strategy. If you have enough people in your family, hold a tournament. If you don’t have enough immediate family members…call in some other families from the neighborhood, church or school. It can be a fun and friendly competition. Everyone can bring some pop and snacks. What a great way to spend an evening!
Thinking outside of the box is the key to free! Be open minded and meanwhile you will also be teaching your children creativity. Not everything we do has to be fancy. But just because it isn’t fancy, doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing or worth it!
