Keeping Up With Your Money

There are many sayings out there about making sure that you manage your money, because if you don’t, it will surely manage you.  This is very true…and much like any area of your life, such as fitness, home or car repair – it is best to be proactive.

Don’t wait until you “have enough” money to start saving or planning.  Knowledge is power, and knowledge is often free. It is likely that your local bank, credit union or community center offers classes or seminars on managing money or even on investing. You can also find loads of information online regarding anything from paying off debt to college savings to minimizing your taxes.

Start with a simple budget and then set goals for yourself.  Commit to accomplishing these goals by a certain date. It may not always happen, but you have the flexibility to break it up however you would like. They can be quite small, such as “by the end of this week I am going to call my lawyer to see about setting up a trust.”  Very simple things can easily fall of our list when not made a priority.

We make goals all the time…fitness goals or work accomplishments. Make your money a priority by taking steps in a proactive manner. Later down the road, you will be so glad you did!
