Plan For A Successful Year….Start Now For 2017
First of all, I think that planning for a successful year starts early. I often joke around that once Fourth of July hits…whoops, it’s Christmas! Time just seems to fly this last half of the year. To make sure it doesn’t fly right by you, schedule some time to sit down in plan out the next year.
Team Involvement – Planning For A Successful Year
Every company works differently, but consider how planning works for you. Do you include your whole team? Maybe just advice from your managers or team leaders? It is safe to say that feedback is good. At the very least sending out an email or passing out a survey asking for a review of the previous year would be good. Something as simple as “Please list the top 3 things you liked about ___________ this past year and name 2 things that can be improved.” Including your team members in the planning process expresses their value to your company and gives them a platform for contributing.
Review – Planning For A Successful Year
Most of what you can change or improve in your future, comes from hard lessons or successes in your past. Look back over your small business’ calendar and take note of the things that worked out well that you would like to repeat. In addition, areas that were neglected and could use some adjustments. Last, look for areas that need a shift or a major improvement and write them down.
Brainstorming – Planning For A Successful Year
Even if you aren’t in a creative profession, brainstorming is still vital to healthy growth and change. Maybe it is improving on campaigns or events you have done for years or maybe it is a new way to structure a system or your benefits. Most importantly, just take the time to think and be open to new ideas and options. Sometimes the craziest thing that gets thrown out sparks a new idea that changes everything for the better!
Execution – Planning For A Successful Year
Most importantly, execute well. The majority of great ideas are lost in the execution. This is another great reason to plan early. Therefore, your timeline will allow you to plan out the details and put the right people in charge of the right stuff.
