Small Business Savings…How Do I Save?
Small business savings…what should be exciting, can often be taxing. For some, it may even be downright depressing. Even a “successful” small business may have trouble saving a significant amount of money. You are trying to excel in so many ways, yet you have a ton of bills and are responsible for others’ income and careers. Sometimes it is enough just to be able to pay yourself! However, many goals, such as another location or more salespeople, require savings. How do you do it?
Sell An Additional Product or Service – Small Business Savings
Sometimes the only thing you can do is come up with something new. It may not be an invention, or anything revolutionary. What it DOES need to be is a new line or source of income. If you are service-based, this may be a variation on the services you already offer. Maybe a more premium version. Maybe a simpler or more basic version.
It could also be adding on or highlighting another area of expertise. Such as a mechanic specializing in mufflers, could begin to specialize or market to those looking for brakes. Maybe it is adding a product. Such as a salon that sold shampoo and conditioner, could add a line of skincare products.
Raise Your Prices – Small Business Savings
This can be the hardest thing to muster for small business owners and managers. Since we are small businesses, it feels personal. It is important to remember that it isn’t. A business can’t get by raising prices every few minutes. However, you also can’t keep the same prices forever. You can absorb SOME of the increases passed on to you…by suppliers, inflation, employee raises etc. But you CANNOT absorb them ALL. At some point…approximately every 18-30 months for most businesses, you need to readjust and pass some of those costs along.
Reach New Clients or Customers – Small Business Savings
Keep doing what you are doing, but sell to more people! Don’t forget about all of the ways to acquire new clients, customers or guests. Is your social media on point to your industry’s standards? Have you asked your great customers for referrals? When is the last time you have tried some fresh marketing ideas?
Many times small business savings really means…more income. Once you have more income, it is possible you will have more to save. At Numerico we are ALL ABOUT our clients reaching their goals. We would love to guide you!
