Using Your Smartphone To Save Money-Part 3:Organization

I hope you have had the chance to try some of our simple tips for saving money with your smartphone! All though this last one is the most general, it is likely the one that can save you the most. I think we can all agree that a lack of organization costs us! The price tag can be literal money, but it is also time and resources. The one little device we carry around with us all of the time can keep us on track to accomplish many of our goals.

Using Your Smartphone To Save Money – Organization

Here is a list you can go off to start your own brainstorming on more ways to save:

  • Rewards: Sick of all of those bar code tags on your keys? Sick of all of the paper punch cards and gift cards lying around? MANY places offer digital rewards now or you can load your cards into a virtual wallet (more to come on that). This saves space and can save you cold, hard cash! One of my favorite apps for this is the one from Starbucks. Earn free drinks and food items, as well as special discounts and treats.
  • Calendar: Most of our phones come set with a calendar app and a reminders or tasks app. I love these apps and use them regularly. You can also download a calendar app to sync multiple schedules or keep separate calendars (say one for work and one for your family). These definitely save time and I have found they save me money too. I set reminders to buy online items on time (save on shipping) or to pay a bill on time (hey no one’s perfect…) and avoid a late fee.
  • Virtual Wallet: I LOVE the wallet on my phone. My favorite use is to save my tickets to concerts and events. However, it also helps keep rewards cards organized, movie tickets and boarding passes right at hand. It is my experience that saving time always equals saving money. Give it a try and see what you think!
