Executing The Remodel For Your Small Business – Part 3 of 3

The time is finally here! All of the planning, questions, picking out and purchasing are coming to a close and it is time to go. Executing the remodel well is the most important step. After all, most things in life are lost in the execution. Here are some tips to insure it goes smoothly and your small business continues to operate well!

Tips For Executing Your Remodel:

  1. Communication Is King: Communicating to your team, vendors and clients or guests is very important. Especially if this involves closing down the business for any amount of time. Make sure your team is on the same page, knows what to expect and what their role is. This is a great opportunity to let you your customers or clients know that something amazing is going on. Last but not least, don’t forget about your vendors or potential deliveries. The last thing you need is a large supply order showing up in the middle of construction.
  2. Know What You Can & Can’t Do Yourself: If you are planning to do some or all of the remodel on your own, be clear with yourself and those around you. You need a realistic time line, certain equipment and some help from those who work for you or your family. Planning the little things ahead of time, such as feeding your helpers can really help things go smoothly. Delegate what you can trust to someone else and focus on the most important tasks.
  3. Be Prepared For Setbacks: They happen. Often with construction projects they are inevitable. Keep an eye on your timeline throughout the project and make some decisions ahead of time. Such as, “if this isn’t done by this point, my brother has agreed to help me.” Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there are usually a few curve balls. Have some “Plan B’s” in mind in case things don’t go as smoothly as you would like.
  4. Make The Most Of Your Update: Shout it from the rooftops! Whether or not your update allows you to offer more services or products, make sure to let your customers and clients know. People love an update and they are always happy to see what’s going on. Consider having a party or re-grand opening open house to show off your upgrade, your hard work and dedication!
