Arbor Hills Shopping Center

There’s a new shopping center in Ann Arbor, and it’s just my style!  The Arbor Hills shopping center opened on Washtenaw Ave. between Platt and Huron a little over three weeks ago, after years of planning and months of excitement after the names of the stores were announced.

Luxury brands not previously found in the Ann Arbor area now have a home in the 90,000+ square foot retail center.  For us yoga lovers, Lululemon makes its long-awaited presence.  Selling high quality fitness clothing, but also hosting community events like free in-store yoga, Ann Arbor yogis no longer need to travel to Novi or Troy to find a wide selection of their favorite brand.

Two of my favorite high end casual clothing companies also have locations in the new mall.  Madewell, a sister company of J. Crew, with a wide denim and leather collection, recently opened its doors.  And Anthropologie, a whimsical and elegant shop for fashion and home accessories, also marks its presence here.  The North Face, Sur La Table, and Paper Source have also opened stores on the strip.

But perhaps my favorite new space is the new restaurant set to open soon from the owners of the hugely successful downtown Ann Arbor spot, Cafe Zola.  It remains to be seen exactly what this new dining establishment will bring, but if it’s anything like Zola’s original location, it will be excellent food, a fun atmosphere, and a place that’s equally appropriate for both a large group or an intimate date.

And if you have time, I encourage you to check out the relatively new Nordstrom Rack, located about a mile east down Washtenaw.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a large collection of many of my favorite brands at a discount price.

Ann Arbor has certainly stepped up its fashion game in recent months.  Maybe I’ll see you out and about at the new stores soon!
