Healthy Livonia’s 100 Days – January 2019 Events

Livonia has some amazing events coming up in the new year. This includes many events for Healthy Livonia’s 100 Days! Check out their full calendar on the City’s website. Here are just a few events we recommend!

Polar Swim Party

Join us at the Kirksey Recreation Center from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 for on for 2 hours of fun polar-themed events. Participate in games and contests, including Best Penguin Walk. The event is free to members or with purchase of a day pass. For more information, please call (734) 466-2900.

Health Kick-Off Event – Healthy Livonia

Sunday, January 6  from 9 – 11:30 a.m. 

Registration for individual activities and weigh-in for the Weight Loss Fitness Challenge!
Keynote Speakers:
9:30 – 10 a.m.- Balanced Eating: How to make this work for you!  Often there is confusion about what types of foods to eat and what combinations are best.  Learn about that and how the timing of eating can affect your body. The discussion will cover breakfast through dinner including how to make snacks work for you. Balanced eating can help energize you and help reach your health goals for 2019! Presented by Noelle R. Blasch, RDN, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at the Kirksey Recreation Center and owner of Nutrition with Noelle, LLC.
10:15 – 10:30 a.m. – Healthy Livonia and You– Learn about the Healthy Livonia initiative and opportunities available to assist you in making healthy lifestyle choices. Presented by Jane Muszynski, Healthy Livonia Program Coordinator.
10:45 – 11:15 a.m. – Weight Loss: No Stone Left Unturned –  Are there things that you might be missing in your weight loss journey that would make losing weight easier and more effective?  Come get a sneak peek into truly biohacking weight loss! Presented by Keri Lappi, CIHC, owner and founder of Energetic Wellness Coaching.

FREE Fridays at the Rec – 5 a.m. – 11 p.m. – Take advantage of open swim, open basketball courts, fitness hub workouts, tree fort use, open wall use, indoor track use, etc.  Every Friday during the Healthy Livonia’s 100 Days to Health! Must be enrolled in the Healthy Livonia’s 100 Days to Health program.

Kids Yoga

Kids Yoga (Ages 6-14) Workout– This is an age specific, fun yoga class. Kids will learn the basics of yoga & progress through class at their own pace. Yoga can improve focus, confidence, coordination, flexibility & fitness level. The class will be instructed by Kirksey Recreation Center Registered Yoga Alliance teacher Amy Menon.

Children’s Nutrition

Children’s Nutrition Nutrition Seminar– Whether you are a parent or a grandparent, information on how to feed ourselves & our children has never been more varied. Come listen to find out what children (and adults) should eat, what they should avoid & practical tricks on how to get them to do it!
