Wedding Ideas To Save You Money
A wedding can cost a small fortune! There are many ways to plan and have a wedding. Just this year I have been to an intimate gathering at a house, a destination wedding at the lake shore and a traditional wedding with over 400 people. Thinking outside the box can save you money too. Here are some unique wedding ideas to help you manage your budget and still have an event you love!
Mix And Match – Cost Saving Wedding Ideas
Gone are the days where it is necessary to have every single thing uniform or matching. Personally, I love vintage decor, as well as an eclectic style. Having tables with different centerpieces, or using different candle holders, table cloths or picture frames is not only acceptable, it can be beautiful!
Substitute Greens For Flowers
There are many floral items that can be used for bouquets instead of actual blooms. From baby breath, to ivy to any other type of leafy greenery…creativity is key! Tie off these glorious green bunches with gorgeous ribbon or rustic burlap and you have full-size unique bouquets at a fraction of the cost.
Consider The Size
This is probably my most obvious suggestion, but consider the size of your invite list. The more people you invite, the more the cost of every single thing goes up. You need more food, a bigger space, more dessert, another favor etc. Marriage is the most important part about a wedding. Don’t worry about who needs to be cut from the list and focus on who really needs to be present for this meaningful event.
Day Dream About The Food
…in order to brainstorm, that is! Keep in mind different types of food, different types of service styles and also that the sky is the limit. I wanted my food to be unique, but also “customizable” for people. My venue and caterer worked with me. I served part of my meal to the table, and part of my meal as stations for things to be customized. We also served brunch food, so it minimized the more expensive protein portions but still gave a hearty mix of bacon, salad, omelettes, french toast and prime rib.
The bottom line is not to feel the pressure to fit into someone else’s wedding dream or tick off everything on a wedding checklist. Have an event you enjoy with people you love and experience as much peach and joy about the process and the marriage as possible!
