Friends of the Livonia Library Used Book Sale

Need a new read? Looking to add to your book collection? Check out the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale. The sale will take place on Friday, Feb. 1, Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Robert and Janet Bennett Civic Center Library, 32777 Five Mile Road. Book sale hours are Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 – 5 p.m. Browse through thousands of books, CDs, videos and collectibles. You never know what you will find!

Daddy Daughter Dance – Winter Activities

Dads, treat your daughters to a special evening out on the town on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Livonia Elk’s Lodge, 3117 Plymouth Road. Dances will take place from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6:30 – 8:30  p.m.

Boogie down to our awesome DJ. Souvenir photos, snacks and refreshments are all part of the fun. Tickets are $8 per person for residents, $12 per person for non-residents and are available at the Kirksey Recreation Center.

Mother Son Dance

Moms in your favorite dress, sons looking to impress, boogie down to our awesome DJ at our Mother Son Dance! Souvenir photos, snacks, refreshments and contests are all part of the fun. All ages welcome.

Tickets are $8 per person for residents, $12 per person for non-residents and are available at the Kirksey Recreation Center.

Valentine’s Day Tea – Winter Activities

at Greenmead Historical Park

Join us for a delightful afternoon at the Valentine’s Day Tea. This new event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Alexander Blue House at Greenmead, 20501 Newburgh Road. Attendees will enjoy a variety of delicious sandwiches, scones and desserts. Entertainment will be provided as well! Advance tickets are required and are $30 per person. Please be prepared to pay with cash or check at the Greenmead Office, 20501 Newburgh Road.

Kids Yoga

Kids Yoga (Ages 6-14) Workout– This is an age specific, fun yoga class. Kids will learn the basics of yoga & progress through class at their own pace. Yoga can improve focus, confidence, coordination, flexibility & fitness level. The class will be instructed by Kirksey Recreation Center Registered Yoga Alliance teacher Amy Menon.

Winter Indoor Triathlon

Registration is underway for the annual Indoor Triathlon Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Jack E. Kirksey Recreation Center, 15100 Hubbard.  The event attracted over 50 participants in 2018.  Participants compete in a 20 minute swim, 20 minute bike, and 20 minute run with 10 minute transition times between each event.  Swimming takes place in the 25 yard lap pool. Biking will be on upright stationary bikes. Running will be done on treadmills in the fit hub.

The registration fee of $35 includes a participation t-shirt and refreshments.  Awards will be given to the top male and female in each of the following age groups 18-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61 and over.
