Fun Spring Break Activities That Don’t Break The Bank – Part 2
In our last post, I covered three of my favorite spring break activities (that don’t cost a lot). But there are so many good ones to choose from. So today, I am going to share three more! There are a lot of things we can do with an unlimited budget. This includes vacations, day trips, water parks or even going to the movies. Here are three ideas that add value to the world and won’t leave your wallet empty!
Plant A Tree – Spring Break Activities
You could do this in your own yard or a parent or grandparent’s yard. Not only are trees beautiful, but they are great for our health and the earth. It is exciting to plant something and watch it grow year after year. This can be a wonderful activity and include lots of learning experiences. First, researching trees…what they will look like, their size and the kinds that will grow well in your yard. Second, the selection of the tree from your local nursery. And last, the actual planting of the tree!
Volunteer – Spring Break Activities
At first this may sound like a boring idea. But, I believe that once kids are involved in this, the come to truly enjoy it! There are many places you can volunteer. A few that comes to mind would be your local place of worship, nursing homes, food banks and your local library. You could also complete acts of service for another friend or family member that needs some help.
Plant A Garden – Spring Break Activities
This goes right in line with planting a tree! Some of the same concepts, but a little more time and effort and a much bigger pay off. Children can be great helpmates when it comes to getting down and dirty in the backyard. Growing up I didn’t like tomatoes (I still don’t like them much!), but I always ate them out of my grandma’s garden because I had helped. If you don’t want to take on too much, you could always get some large clay pots and start with some simple plants or herbs on your desk or back porch instead of an entire garden.
