July Events For Livonia, Michigan Your Family Will Love!

Summer is finally in full swing and I am looking forward to many activities this month! We are proud to be a part of the Livonia Community. Check out the following events for the month of July! There is something for everyone to enjoy…

Summer Fun Series – Park It!

Music: Guy Louis – A Family Fun Concert – Movie: Paddington 2

Join us for the Summer Fun Series – Park It! on Tuesday, July 10 at 6 p.m. for music and a movie at the Kirksey Recreation Center, 15100 Hubbard. The music begins at 6:30 p.m. with Guy Louis. Guy uses acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin and ukelele. Hear some of his own songs as well as classics like “Yellow Submarine”, “I’m a Believer”, “Your Momma Don’t Dance”, “American Pie” and more that will bring all ages together. Songs are drawn from all genres including Guy’s own songs

Stay for a movie under the stars at 8:20 p.m. featuring Paddington 2. Settled in with the Brown family, Paddington the bear is a popular member of the community who spreads joy and marmalade wherever he goes. One fine day, he spots a pop-up book in an antique shop — the perfect present for his beloved aunt’s 100th birthday. When a thief steals the prized book, Paddington embarks on an epic quest to unmask the culprit before Aunt Lucy’s big celebration.

Get your family and friends together for a night in the park you won’t forget! Bring your blanket or lawn chair and get ready for live music, kids activities, giveaways and a movie under the stars!

*Movie, music and MOST activities are free of cost. There may be some activities that are low cost, but are not required.

Touch-A-Truck, Flying Pancake Breakfast, & Tours

at Greenmead Historical Park

The Churchill Rotary Interact Club and Rotary Club of Livonia AM present Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenmead, 20501 Newburgh Road. This free hands-on family event provides a unique opportunity for children and adults alike to explore vehicles of all types including public service, emergency, utility, construction, landscaping, transportation, and delivery – all in one place. They can hear sirens, watch the tractor bucket move, learn how they operate all up close and hands on.  Children will be allowed to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, and meet the people who help to build, protect and serve our community.

All donated proceeds and sponsorships go to support local organizations, such as our Livonia Police and Fire, the LPS Education Foundation, and many others. While Touch a Truck is a completely free event, we always welcome donations to support the community through our mission.
The Historical Commission will be offering Flying Pancakes at the Alexander Blue House from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Hold your plate steady as your pancakes are flipped through the air from the grill. $8 per person, cash only please.  The village will be open for tours beginning at 11 a.m. For more information please call (248) 477-7375.
