Summer Incentives For Your Employees

A lot of our recent blogs have to do with summer coming. So I thought I would write one geared to our many small business clients. Summer in Michigan presents a great time to give incentives to your employees. Everyone wants more time off and are typically willing to work hard to get it. It is a wonderful time of year to focus on goals and rewards. Let’s face it, the sunshine helps just about everything!

Here Are Three Ideas For Employee Incentives This Summer

  1. A Family Event: This is a great incentive if you have employees with kids or grand kids. You could go the more traditional route of a company BBQ or you could put together a movie night or a mini-golf or bowling outing. You could offer this for meeting certain deadlines or for hitting a sales or productivity goal.
  2. Summer Hours or Bonus Time Off: This could be offered to someone who is working extra hard toward a project or it could be a single prize for winning a contest. It really depends on your company’s industry and what you are offering, producing or selling. In a retail setting it could be something like “the associate who sells the most ________, wins an extra day off or X amount of hours.” You could also do this for the team by cutting down your hours on the weekend or letting everyone come in late or early.
  3. Office Fun: A little bit of fun at work can go a long way! Think about this like a “casual Friday” but maybe you have a casual week. You could also let your team members where jeans or something out of the norm. If you work in a place where everyone takes their lunch at the same time, you could offer a picnic, a lunch at a restaurant with outdoor seating or close for the afternoon and do a summer activity. Beach volley ball anyone?!
