What Should I Include In My June Budget?
Someone recently asked me “What should I include in my June budget?” So I was thinking through some of the things I add to my budget when summer comes. I thought it would be helpful to share my top five!
What Should I Include In My June Budget? No. 1 – Air Conditioning
I like my house to stay cool in the summer and I am willing to pay more for that. This is one of those that may or may not be important to you. However, if it is, make sure to budget in a higher amount for your central air conditioning. My spring utility bills are the lowest of the year for me. We experience quite a jump once June hits!
No. 2 – Lawn Care & Maintenance
This one can be a huge range depending on whether you care for your lawn yourself or hire a company to do it. My husband takes care of our lawn, so while we don’t incur huge fees, I still have to allot some money for this. It may be tuning up the lawn mower, planting flowers or buying supplies.
No. 3 – Sunscreen & Bug Spray
Neither of these things is cheap! With certain brands costing $10 per bottle, it can surely add up. My aunt has four little kids and goes through 2 cans per week…wow!
What Should I Include In My June Budget? No. 4 – Father’s Day
Allot something for gifts and cards or if you host your family, it may need to be an even bigger line item. Having 10 people over for dinner and drinks can double your grocery bill for that week. Don’t let this worthwhile cause sneak up on you and bust your budget.
No. 5 – Water Activities & BBQ’s
This line accounts for all of the fun summer activities. This may mean days at the beach or the lake. Or maybe it is a family picnic and a kiddie pool. Whatever your summer style of fun is, make sure to account for it in your June budget for relaxing summer days and restful nights!
